The Cons of Paying:

  • No guarantee Cyber Criminals will honor their word.

  • Risk of paying an OFAC sanctioned person or entity; it could get you in legal trouble.

  • Your organization is more likely to be targeted again; it is now on a list of targets who pay ransoms

  • 80% of victims who pay are attacked again (Cybereason)

  • 61% of organizations that pay the ransom get their data back (Sophos)
